YEAR 5 RESIDENTIAL 2014-2015

On Friday 1st May, 40 Year 5 pupils (plus Miss O'Brien, Mrs Skirving, Mrs Thebe, Miss Peart and Mr McAvoy) headed off to the 'robinwood' activity centre at Barhaugh Hall near Alston for three days of adventurous activities.

The whole group had an amazing time and the children responded brilliantly to all of the challenges that they were faced with.

FOREST

Phoebe E: I was proud of myself because I survived the Piranha Pool without being bitten!

Macey H: I was proud of how I coped with being away from home for three days and how I grew in confidence during the weekend.

Olivia H: I was proud of my team during the Piranha Pool because we all worked together as a team.

Anna C: I was proud of myself because when we went in the Dungeon of Doom, I was initially scared to go through the dark tunnels, but I knew we had to in order to escape!

Matthew R: I was proud of my bravery on the Giant Swing because I am scared of heights.

Max D: I was proud that I volunteered to be the first person on the Giant Swing, even though I had to go on it alone!

Jayden C: I was proud that I won the archery competition.

Den M: I was proud to get out of the cave without any lights and then go back to rescue the rest of my team!

Mackenzie S: I felt proud of myself when I jumped off the trapeze and caught the bar because I thought I was going to miss the bar.

 

HILL

Scarlett W: I was proud when I reached the top of the Giant Swing because I used to be scared of heights.

Madeline L: When I finished the Piranha Pool, I was proud because I was initially scared to go across the pool.

Maddison R: I was extremely proud that I jumped off from the highest point to reach the trapeze and swung from the highest point on the Giant Swing, especially because I was scared of heights.

Millie M: I felt proud of myself when I jumped off the top of the climbing tower to reach the trapeze.

Layla T: I was proud of our teamwork in the Piranha Pool because, although we were scared at first, we worked together to complete all of the challenges.

 Jessica M: I felt proud of myself when I crossed the Piranha Pool because I was shaking like mad but I still did it!

Adam E: I was proud at the end of the Piranha Pool because I ran across the pool, even though the piranhas had started to come out!

Lewis W: I was really proud when I hit the bullseye during archery, especially because I had never done archery before.

 Daniel B: I was proud at the end of Dragon’s Quest because we defeated the dragon. Our teamwork was excellent!

Cody M: I was proud after we completed the Dungeon of Doom because our teamwork was excellent.

Jack G: I was extremely proud that I swung from the top of the Giant Swing because I was scared of heights up until this point.

 

VALLEY

Laney S: I am proud that I went to the top of the Giant Swing because I am scared of heights.

Ellie B: I was proud when we finished the Dungeon of Doom, particularly because my team picked me out as being a great team leader.

Jessie H: I was proud when I swung from the top of the Giant Swing because I never used to like things going really fast and high.

 Macy T: Although we didn’t hit the dragon at the end, we showed excellent teamwork to complete all of the challenges in Dragon’s Quest.

Matthew P: I was really proud of myself for reaching the top of the climbing wall because I am scared of heights.

Owen S: I was proud of the fact that we made it out of the Piranha Pool in time, thanks to our excellent teamwork.

Oscar W: I was proud at the end of the Piranha Pool because, as a team, we escaped before the piranhas were released!

Kamil M: I was proud of reaching the top of the Giant Swing because I am scared of heights.

Michael S: When we finished the Dungeon of Doom, I was proud because I had been really, really scared yet our teamwork was excellent to complete the challenges.

 

WOOD

Rebecca S: I was proud of myself when I reached the top of the climbing wall because I have never climbed a climbing wall as high as that before!

Arabella B: I surprised myself when I went to the top of the Giant Swing because I was terrified of heights at the time; I was proud that I conquered my fear!

Naomi F: I laughed at myself when I fell in the Piranha Pool and was proud of the positive attitude that I showed.

 Abigail S: I am proud that I went into the caves because I used to be scared of small and tight places.

 Neve B: I was proud of myself when I reached the top of the climbing wall because, before ‘robinwood’, I was terrified of heights.

Finfeen B: I was proud when I reached the top of the climbing wall because I am scared of heights

Luke R: I was proud at the end of the Dungeon of Doom because we all worked brilliantly as a team.

Dylan J: I was proud of our teamwork that helped us to complete the challenges in the Dungeon of Doom.

Billy A: I was proud that I caught the bar on the trapeze because, initially, I didn’t think I could do it.

Luke W: I was proud that our team completed the Piranha Pool challenge with our team showing excellent teamwork and determination.

Scott T: I was proud of when I reached the top of the climbing wall, especially as I hadn’t got to the top the first time but I didn’t give up.
